Long-Term Monitors

An Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) is a small, long-term heart monitoring device implanted just beneath the skin, typically in the chest. It continuously records electrical heart activity (ECG) and is used to diagnose irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) over months or even years. The ILR can automatically detect and record abnormal heart rhythms or can be activated by the patient during symptomatic episodes. It is commonly used for patients with unexplained fainting, palpitations, or suspected arrhythmias that are difficult to capture with standard monitoring devices.
